Alas, the 900 miles makes it impossible for us to be with Abby on her 6th birthday. This makes me very sad. But it is what it is. Her daddy is doing a great job providing for her and her family. I can’t ask for any more.
Thank goodness for technology. When Steve was in Turkey in 1972, all we had was snail mail and one phone call – (that I missed -I didn’t know he was going to call and I wasn’t home) – for one whole year. Now we have cell phones and SKYPE. Yes, Skype is a wonderful piece of technology. At least if I can’t be there, I can at least see them all on Skype!
When we logged in and called Abby, we surprised her with a Happy Birthday sign while we sung the Happy Birthday song!

then when we moved the sign, we had six candles lit and told her to blow! Yes yes, I know . . . but Grandpa was standing behind me and when I told her to blow, Grandpa blew . . . and it took him 3 times LOL so we kept telling Abby to blow harder! ”She” finally got them all blown out LOL

Then we chatted for a bit. She told me about her party. I asked if they liked the cupcakes that Momma made and took to her classroom.

Meagan did a spectacular job! She piped the ‘A’ and the snowflake! The ‘A’ is chocolate and the snowflake is icing! Just adorable!

Talking some more with Abby. Mom doing something in the back of the room. Hannahbell is off to the side.

Here they all are. Dad is still at work. We called early because Grandma Laurie was going to call a bit later.

hahahaha The girls asked to see Dugan. [The camera is in the top of my computer screen - so I turned the computer towards Dugan - he was sitting on the arm of the couch watching.]

Little more talking :)

Abby describing something that happen at school

I love talking to the girls . . . it’s so hard with them being 900 miles away – sigh . . .

Hannahbell is eating a candy necklace while Abby and I are still talking

And just before we say good by . . . Abby shows us just exactly how old she is . . . It must be a good thing . . . she’s 6 and it’s thumbs up!!! :)
